I take an integrative approach to counselling. My core training is humanistic but I integrate other perspectives and techniques in order to be able to meet the needs of individuals. I base my approach on the person-centred principle that individuals have the potential for growth and self-awareness. My therapeutic philosophy is influenced by existential thinking and the idea that we are challenged with deriving meaning from our individuality, our strengths, opportunities and limitations.
I offer counselling to individuals with a variety of issues. You may have a specific issue you wish to explore with an independent person who has the ability to listen in a confidential and non-judgmental way. You may be worrying excessively, feeling confused, overwhelmed or low in spirit. It maybe health issues, bereavement or an awareness of the affects of trauma that are in some way impacting on the day to day. I aim to help clients access their own resources to deal with life’s challenges. Some aspects cannot be changed – but by working together we can gain new understanding and insight into past experiences in order to make different choices for the future.
After an initial assessment, we will take some time to discuss options for our work together, including matching personal needs and whether long or short-term work will be more beneficial. You will be offered a confidential safe space, which will give an opportunity to build a working therapeutic relationship, which can create the foundations for change. In the therapeutic relationship we create, we would work together to gain awareness of and examine the choices available to you enabling you to make meaningful changes to your life.
My fees are £50.00 per session
